Pelosi visits Taiwan
Wonderful News, at 22:00 on August 2, 2022, the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi made a surprise visit to Taiwan. The incident made headlines in China and Taiwan.
The two will discuss the recent chip bill passed by the U.S. Congress, as well as establishing that the U.S. will use TSMC chips in the military and laboratories in the future, and consumer electronics companies of all brands will also rely on TSMC semiconductors.
It was previously reported that in May 2020, TSMC will build a $12 billion 5-nanometer chip factory in Phoenix, Arizona, and the factory is expected to be completed by the end of 2023. Now TSMC is considering expanding the scale of construction. The land in Phoenix is large enough to accommodate multiple additional factories.
Ke Jianming, a senior DPP executive, claimed that Pelosi talked to TSMC Chairman Liu Deyin about the chip issue in the morning, and everyone was well aware of the impact and importance of the chip bill on the semiconductor supply chain. This also confirmed the in-depth exchanges between Pelosi and Liu Deyin between TSMC and the “Chip and Science Act”.
